Simba, lion, sounds like a fitting name.

there was a cat i met once and it was a two stroke cat. its head was as big as, or would just fit inside, an eight by ten inch picture frame. he hated most things except the people in his house. when the sweeper would come he charged the street stopping at the curb. at the curb he would stomp his feet letting out a mournful banshee cry. afraid he would run into to the street to do battle with the machine cleaning it she tied him to the lounge chair. it made no difference, he took the chair with him. subsequent street sweeping days his owners would try to keep him in doors. even though he hated most living things he was civil. on introduction he would allow just two pets. presenting his back to the visitor he would allow just two strokes. On stroke one he would look back. On stroke two his tail would shake and then he would be perfectly still. As my hand would move toward him for the third stroke he would stiffen and as I touched him he attacked. He always seemed very pissed when my hand was not there for him to claw and bite. Glaring at me as if he understood the rules of engagement he flicked his tail in the air and would trot off. without actually having heard him say it I know he said, “There will be other times. Be afraid.”

Humidity varies from fifty percent to eighty percent in just a few hours and it seems like minutes. Your mother has a temperature gauge inside and out registering the humidity and temperature. it’s hard to believe that we would call eighty degrees comfortable. Outside in the sun it is one hundred. With the breeze inside it feels seventy-five or less.

Paddled yesterday morning out to the island. The moon was almost dark and the water glowed yellow gold with each stroke as the diatomaceous creatures interacted with water and oxygen my paddle blended them with. At the island I saw for the first time at least one hundred angel fish in a herd or a flock or a school. your mother was sad on my reporting this discovery. One turtle and one blue sea bass was also sighted. the water was clear visibility maybe fifty feet.
