this week’s upcoming slogan will be, if the wind does not stop you will die.

the hurricane has made landfall on the main body of Mexico.  this is hurricane season until novembre. octobre is a good time to come as are of the months except augusto, septembre,..  the humidity is eighty percent.  i just broke out in a sweat doing my finger exercises.

grabbed the ladder and took it upstairs to make sure the hole was patched to keep water out.  sat down and realized i no longer needed a shower.  drinking less water helps.  it is what the locals, do drink less,  but sweat anyway and die younger.

as i type  drizzle has come.   the sun has come out and the water is green turning into dark and darker colors until the horizon joins the sky and then the clouds are blue in contrast. the thunderheads ride up until where the sky must end and outer space begins.   the lightening this time of year is  amazing. lightening will show in the distance sparkling every three seconds and it does not stop for hours.

there is surf though.  every storm sends surf somewhere.  hurricanes send it here.  it was amazing last year  there was no one on the beach and i caught a wave, kicked out caught another and for the next fifteen successive waves i road a wave.   this year the waves have been better formed but the water has been crowded.  down by the fishing village the waves were three, four feet high and breaking left.  i was sitting there waiting for the next wave and someone said, “hello. how’s it going?”  i would have rather seen a talking parrot  or a mermaid.   right next to me was a fellow on one of those boards that disappear when they sit on them, leaving just the neck above water,  asking about the surf and explaining he was staying at his girlfriend’s parent’s house.   he brought bad luck.  as we sat there the water became calm and we had lake Chivato again.

today the overcast nature of the sky makes the water seem cold but it’s at least seventy five degrees.  it is uninviting.   the humidity makes the walk there seem like too much work.  i have not paddled today and while i did grown up things like check the roof,  the grown up surf has vanished.

your friend is a nut if she comes this far south  i mean, we are so she should be, too.  i saw two cars yesterday one gas truck to fill up our lp gas and three 1/4 ton trucks.  five atvs.   this morning i saw one atv with one adult male and five kids.  that will probably be the event of the day.  gas cans. ten gallons is good. water five gallons is good. a most excellently running vehicle is a must.  explain it is three hundred miles between gas stations and some times fifty miles before you see another vehicle. the gas stations don’t always have gas..  last storm the gas delivery here was interrupted and the line at one of the gas stations  was a quarter of a mile long.  no diesel was to be had for two weeks.  should it happen your friend comes here yes to kayaking and a room to stay in.

no one on the beach today. fudge went surfing or wave slamming, she thinks it is very funny to get pushed around.  the atv with five people on just went back by and has only three.
